TRES PALOMAS- prints available

"Tres Palomas"  36"x36"

This painting was a whimsical take at trying to illustrate my journey of grief and rebirth.  With 3 birds depicted but hidden amongst each other, I sketched swirling parts intertwined within each other – the Phoenix, the Peacock and the Great Horned Owl. I was drawn to the Phoenix because out of the ashes of ruin, the Phoenix arises anew.  This mystical creature is beautiful and powerful.

The great horned owl – is my nature animal, my spirit totem, if you will allow me – and I also found out, it’s the totem of the Esalen Indians who lived on the sacred healing lands of the Esalen Institute in Big Sur. The great horned owl can see in the dark and flies silently faster than the golden eagle – he’s wise and all knowing and he watches in silence.

Finally, the peacock. I didn’t know much about the peacock, just that his iridescent feathers were so beautiful. What I found out about the peacock is it is a symbol of immortality and is linked to Christ. Because the peacock naturally replaces his feathers annually, it is a symbol of renewal, rebirth, resurrection, new beginnings. I didn’t know all this about the peacock when I painted him into “Tres Palomas” but now I know he definitely is appropriately placed.

SOLD - to my friends Teri and Brian Killgore.

This song makes me think of Nick as his soul moved from this body that was failing him, up to heaven, where he watches over us.

SONGBIRD by Fleetwood Mac

For you, there'll be no more crying,
For you, the sun will be shining,
And I feel that when I'm with you,
It's alright, I know it's right
To you, I'll give the world
to you, I'll never be cold
'Cause I feel that when I'm with you,
It's alright, I know it's right.
And the songbirds are singing,
Like they know the score,
And I love you, I love you, I love you,
Like never before.
And I wish you all the love in the world,
But most of all, I wish it from myself.
And the songbirds keep singing,
Like they know the score,
And I love you, I love you, I love you,
Like never before, like never before.

BLACKBIRD by the Beatles

Blackbird singing in the dead of night
Take these broken wings and learn to fly
All your life
You were only waiting for this moment to arise

Blackbird singing in the dead of night
Take these sunken eyes and learn to see
All your life
You were only waiting for this moment to be free

Blackbird fly, blackbird fly
Into the light of the dark black night

Blackbird fly, blackbird fly
Into the light of the dark black night

Blackbird singing in the dead of night
Take these broken wings and learn to fly
All your life
You were only waiting for this moment to aris
